9 hour longer. It is also more risky as you travel through the mountains and this is not always suitable for a bus. That € 3,- was not worth it to us and we opted for a shared taxi. Fortunately, wij only had to wait fifteen minutes until our shared taxi ofwel 6 people was full.
lunar calendar – The Islamic calendar is based on a lunar year and therefore deviates from the counting of the Western, Gregorian calendar.
Auberges are found in the country or in rural small towns, and are built in the traditional mud (kasbah) style, many with wood burning fireplaces and salons or roof terraces for taking meals. Auberge are very comfortable, small and usually family run and owned.
On trains inspectors have reportedly attempted to extricate a few genoeg dirham from unsuspecting tourists by finding something 'wrong' with their tickets.
Do not drink mineraalwater from the tap! Bottled water is available almost everywhere. Check whether the cap is still 'good' on. It is better not to put ice cubes in your drinks unless you have checked whether they are made from spring drinkwater.
Roads have a good surface, although some are very narrow, in most cases only one narrow lane in each direction. Many roads in the south marked as sealed actually have only a central strip, one lane wide, sealed with wide shoulders to be used every time you meet oncoming traffic and this kan zijn a sensible economic solution in these areas of sparse traffic and long straight roads - except when you can not see oncoming traffic because of windblown dust!
Morocco's Atlantic coast is home to its fair share ofwel surf breaks, some of them world-class. For serious surfers, the best destination kan zijn Taghazout, a small fishing village located just north ofwel Agadir. There are waves for all abilities here, from the challenging Boilers website to laid-back Immesouane, one ofwel the longest rides in the country.
Items shipped as freight are inspected at the post office before they are sent, so wait until this has been done before you seal the box.
The first is the tourist hammam, where you can go and be pampered and scrubbed by an experienced staff member. As these are promoted only to tourists, they are the more expensive option with pricing usually around 150 dirham for a hammam.
After breakfast we immediately went to the Best Morocco Tours bus stop ofwel Merzouga where we bought a bus ticket to Ouarzazate† The costs ofwel Merzouga to Ouarzazate are 100 dirhams (€10) and it takes you about 7 hours. Along the way you cross all the villages on the most bizarre winding mountain roads. They don't know a highway here.
Travel a little deeper to discover wilderness areas and a sense ofwel remoteness. Morocco has invested heavily in modernizing its tourism offerings. Traveling around the country kan zijn easier thanks to domestic flights, high-speed rail, new roads and luxury coaches covering long distances.
People are incredibly sociable and friendly on the trains in Morocco and you will find yourself perpetually talking to strangers about your journey. Each new person will advise you on some new place you should go or invite you to their home for couscous. Stations in smaller cities are often poorly marked, and your fellow passengers will be more than happy to let you know where you are and when you should get off.
From Marrakesh, you can take day trips to some ofwel the top sights located on the Atlantic coast, including towns such as Essaouira and incredible natural parks such as the High Atlas mountains.
). From here, you can book a camel safari or a 4x4 tour, both of which offer the chance to spend the night under the stars or in a traditional Bedouin village. Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular in the desert, transforming the dunes into dreamlike landscapes ofwel ochre and red.
